Blog EntryA trip in DubaiApr 28, '08 5:08 AM
for everyone

Last Saturday, we went to the Dragon Mart in Dubai. It was my first time to visit the mall and I was really amazed by the A to J row of Chinese goods. Everything from electrical appliances, office products, machinery, lamps and lanterns, foodstuffs, arts and crafts, and of course, shoes and bags are all in there. Isang malaking Tutuban! Disadvantage lang, the mall has natural roofing (if that's what it's called in the engineering world), so you can feel the heat outside. There are also not much choices of restos served by Filipino waitresses who seem to fault you for not being a waitress like them.

I really feel that China will be the next superpower and America knows that kaya tinatadtad siya ngayon ng negative controversies. What do you think?

what's natural roofing?

Maybe its roof na hindi talaga roof. ehehe... or yung frame lang? ehehe...
And Lucky, China has been really extreme in its control over its territories.
Cultural revolution pa nga lang eh. Plus yung tianenmen square and a whole host of others. You can't really say that the US is beating down on it. The whole world is.
Plus its a communist country. Not truly communist, but communist nonetheless.

Parang piece of cloth lang yung roof. Well, not exactly cloth only, but not cement. Actually, most of the malls here uses that 'technology' para natural yung ventilation. Kind of a solar roof.

Argh, I can't accurately describe it!

Eh that's how they want to run their country. The US should not take advantage of that.

ha! aint that the truth. once in singapore, along clarke quay, filipino waitresses would greet you in front of the door, then if youre not interested sasabihin tlga nila out loud "eh di wag. salamat ah."

oh well..hehehe..

i actually admire china, because they are still deeply rooted to their culture and beliefs. whereas in our own country we tend to be more western instead of promoting our own individuality.

being western doesn't mean we can't promote our own individuality. there's a lot of material out there. We just don't see it. Because we choose not to. We're too engrossed in dissing politics.

And frankly, I enjoy capitalism. ehehehehe...

Pano mo nasabi na they take advantage of that? Is there a specific act that you can point out or are you talking about the stamping out of the tibetan protesters. Kung yun yun, hindi lang US Lucky, the whole world doesn't like what China did.

That I think is because we grew in a European atmosphere and most of us were educated with the American curriculum. It is just natural -- our country is still young.

And Jady, the US has CIA. Need I say more?

Israel has the Mossad, Britain has the MI7, Soviets once had the KGB, China has a special information unit. Lucky, lahat ng bansa meron nyan. Kahit tayo. Pero ours are not as refined as theirs.
Look up the cold war Lucky. Hindi lang US ang may dirty tricks.
I'm being impartial here.

And even if we grew up in a european atmosphere, that doesn't mean we can't be proud of what we have, sadly we aren't. I mean, not all of us are.

All I'm saying is that the US can act for its interests, and when it does, it can be disastrous than anyone could imagine.

I am also not defending those who do not love our country. You know how Filipina am I. I am just stating a fact that defines these people's actions. That doesn't mean it is right. That doesn't mean it is acceptable. That doesn't mean we can't change.

kainggit. i wanna do desert safari with you guys...ang pinakamasarap after non yung eat all you can with the belly dancing and all... yum yum food...

Pagkain na lang for me!
All nations act for its interests. We all have vested interests Lucky. China has its own, and so does the US. kahit pilipinas. I don't think its disastrous, most of its foreign policy is covert. Consider mo na lang yung Iraq war as one of those few na alam natin. Masyadong maraming behind the scenes. At hindi lang US gumagawa nun.

Sige JC, tayo na lang ang mag-usap : ) I remember Punch telling Jady and me not to discuss politics.
aliyyas wrote on Apr 29

Gay...huh?

Ahaha... oo nga, don't discuss politics, I remember that, lalo na sa bus.

do not ever discuss politics with me or else you'll end up making me cry wahaha. i hate it. i hate history. i hate chowder (you know) hahahaha... politics is a very dangerous topic.

san ka pa namasyal luckz? ang dami maganda items to shop sa dubai. gusto ko nga sumama sa lola ko eh kaso - hmm-- mano naman sasama. hehehe.
luckymae wrote on Apr 30
Politics is still interesting.

Puro buildings naman sa Dubai. And marami rin naman magagandang items sa Pinas (if not mas maganda pa). I actually have difficulty buying dresses here kasi they are designed for other nationalities na mas matangkad eh, and most of them do not fit my taste.

basta. do not discuss politics with the ff people: volt, pancho, jad, me, etc.
the last time somebody discussed politics in front of me, namaga paa ko sa kakatayo sa food court ng isang mall sa sobrang layo! (sob!) especially not with volt and pancho unless gusto niyo magovernight somewhere at tulog na tayo habagn cla ay continue pa rin sa discussion nila. wah!
